Through its operating
arm, the National Academy of Public Administration Foundation,
the Academy carries out its Congressional charter. The Academy's
acknowledged expertise has also drawn state and local governments,
as well as nonprofit foundations, to contract with the Academy
for the similar types of research and analysis. Additionally,
through its own Standing Panels and with external private
funding, the Academy promotes discourse on emerging trends
in governance.
Mechanisms
to engage the Academy.
Working with the Academy
To respond quickly and flexibly to Congressional,
governmental, foundation, and other requests, the Academy
has a small core professional staff. Supplementing the employees
are independent contractors or consultants with the requisite
expertise or experience. Studies are generally directed by
Panels of Academy Fellows and other experts appointed by the
Academy Board of Directors. The research and report drafting
is conducted by a project team assembled specifically for
each study. Other activities are accomplished with similarly-assembled
teams.
